Movies in the Park

Looking for something to do on a Friday night coming up?  How about seeing a movie in a Berkeley park? The City of Berkeley’s free evening movie series runs through mid-September.

If you’re going, the City suggests arriving at least 30 minutes before showtime, and recommends not driving there if possible, as street parking will be limited.

Plan to bring something to sit on (low beach chairs only—so the people behind you can see—or a blanket, sleeping bag, etc.), a flashlight or headlamp, and weather-appropriate layers in case it gets chilly. I would definitely bring some movie snacks (what’s a movie outing without some popcorn?), but alcohol is not allowed. Dogs on leash are permitted.

Here’s the movie schedule from late July:

IF, 7/25, 8:35 p.m., Live Oak Park, 1301 Shattuck Ave.

Despicable Me 4, 8/8, 8:15 p.m., Cedar Rose Park, 1300 Rose St.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3, 8/22, 8 p.m., Grove Park, 1730 Oregon St.

Wicked, 9/5, 7:40 p.m., Willard Park, 2720 Hillegass Ave.

Inside Out 2, 9/12, 7:30 p.m., Codornices Park, 1201 Euclid Ave.

Check the schedule online before you go, in case there are changes, at https://berkeleyca.gov/community-recreation/news/summer-evening-movies-berkeley-parks

Sounds like fun to me!
